  • NCPDP Releases New and Enhanced Standards

NCPDP has released a new standard, the Benefit Integration Standard v10. It was developed to provide a standardized format for health plans and processors to communicate data on the accumulation of patient deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses to effectively administer integrated medical and drug benefits. Accumulator data can be exchanged between trading partners in agreed upon intervals in either batch or real-time. The standardized transactions are useful for plans that require tracking across both medical and drug benefits to ensure that a patient's total out-of-pocket expense is calculated accurately. In addition to providing administrative efficiencies for the benefit partners, the standard helps facilitate a seamless experience for patients.
