  • Going to Indy? Plan to Attend FDB Reception If you're attending the 2014 Educational Summit and/or November work group meetings, you're invited to a welcome reception hosted by FDB (First Databank, Inc.), whose Midwestern home is Indianapolis. The reception will be on November 11, 2014 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Cosmopolitan Foyer of the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis. The reception follows the Summit and is the evening before work groups begin. In addition to welcoming NCPDP, FDB will celebrate the NDPDP Foundation for its role in helping to advance NCPDP's mission in the healthcare industry. RSVP to Carrie Thrasher by November 3, 2014.
  • Volunteers Needed to Lead Young Professionals Initiative Are you among the next generation of NCPDP leaders...the people who will ensure that NCPDP continues to accomplish its mission long into the future?  If you are in your 20's or 30's and ready to grow in leadership, we want your help to lead NCPDP's Young Professionals Initiative. This is a short-term commitment. You would help to assemble a group of young professionals like yourself for the purpose of providing feedback and recommendations on opportunities for engagement and leadership in the organization.   • Notification of September 2014 Ballot Release September 18, 2014 - This notification is to make you aware of three Data Maintenance Ballots released today, Thursday, September 18, 2014, by NCPDP for Public Comment. The comment period will end on Monday, October 20, 2014, at 5:00 p.m. PDT | 6:00 p.m. MDT | 7:00 p.m. CDT | 8:00 p.m. EDT.
  • Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMP): A National Viewpoint

    Prescription drug abuse is a patient safety issue and a public health crisis. Unintentional overdose deaths have been classified as epidemic by the Centers for Disease Control.   • Copaxone® 20 mg. Billing Unit Changes Effective Q4 2014 A new package configuration for Copaxone® 20mg NDC 68546-0317-30, which no longer contains alcohol swabs or any other prepping supplies, was introduced in Q1 2014. A new National Drug Code (NDC) was not required by the FDA; however per section 5.2.2 of the NCPdP Billing Unit Standard, the billing unit will be changed from 1 EA kit to 1 ML per syringe (package size of 30). Due to the significance of this change on the pharmacy industry, the drug compendia will make the changes within the September/October 2014 timeframe.  Read more.
