Talk with representatives of Rx Response, an organization developed as an initiative of America’s pharmaceutical supply system in 2007 to help ensure the availability of medicine to patients during a severe public health emergency. Rx Response acts as a single point of contact for the entire pharmaceutical supply system and federal and state emergency management officials to communicate pharmaceutical needs and other issues which may impact the supply system to ensure the fastest possible resolution. In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Rx Response has partnered with the NCPDP to track which pharmacies in a disaster area are submitting prescription claims and developed the Pharmacy Status Reporting Tool to provide free, on-line reports of which pharmacies are open in declared disaster areas.
Hear information from ICERx (In Case of Emergency Prescription Database) representatives about the online service developed for healthcare professionals assisting disaster-affected individuals. Through ICERx, authorized pharmacists and doctors obtain records of medications evacuees were using prior to the disaster, including the specific dosages. Armed with this information, healthcare professionals will be able to renew prescriptions for evacuees and effectively assist in the coordination of care while avoiding harmful prescription errors.
