“Over the past 14 years NCPDP has offered me a unique opportunity to gain invaluable industry knowledge, develop leadership and speaking skills, develop professional relationships with trading partners as well as competitors, and positively influence healthcare. Knowing that I play a bigger role in healthcare than just my day job brings much greater professional satisfaction.”

“I have been an NCPDP member for 13 years. During that time I have found my association with the Council to be professionally and personally rewarding. I have never seen an organization where members from disparate and often time competitive organizations have worked so well together for the common good. The standards developed by NCPDP greatly benefit the healthcare industry by providing the means for the standardized transmission of electronic healthcare data. At a time when there is a national movement towards interoperable health care systems these standards become even more critical. The membership knows that the ultimate benefactor of the work we do is the patient and that our work at NCPDP will have an impact on the quality of care they receive.
The membership represents a body of knowledge and a level of expertise that is unsurpassed in the industry. I have always found the members to be willing to share their knowledge and expertise. This willingness to share has been invaluable to me and to my employer.
On a personal note, I have had the pleasure of making a number of friends through my participation at many levels within NCPDP. I am sure that these friendships will last long past my professional career and I am very grateful to have had this opportunity. It is not often that situations arise where participation in an organization provide significant professional as well as personal satisfaction.”

"Many people may not know that NCPDP has reached out to various segments of healthcare in the past year through memos of understanding with other SDOs (HL7 and X12) and through segment focus groups such as pharmaceutical manufacturers and long term care. We've also reached out to independent pharmacists by exhibiting at the NCPA Annual Conference. And, of course, our members have stepped up to the plate through testifying to the NCVHS about how NCPDP standards are ready made tools to help accomplish interoperability in the healthcare arena. "
