2010 – Department of Health and Human Services names NCPDP’s SCRIPT Standard for ePrescribing a core requirement for achieving meaningful use of electronic health records.
2009 - NCPDP announces the formation of the Standards Charter Organization (SCO), a collaboration of Standards Development Organizations including HL7, X12, HITSP and other stakeholders.
2008 - The Telecommunication Standard and Batch Standard, and the Medicaid Subrogation Standard, were named in the HIPAA Final Rule by HHS.
2008 - NCPDP launched NCPDP dataQ™, a web-based solution that provides up-to-date and in-depth pharmacy information.
2008 - NCVHS recommended that HHS adopt the SCRIPT Standard v10.5 for voluntary use in the long term care environment, which HHS approved.
2007 - NCPDP created a work group devoted to RFID and Auto Identification. The work group name is now WG17 Pharmaceutical Pedigree and Traceability.
2007 - NCPDP created WG16 Property and Casualty/Workers' Compensation to develop correlating fields supported in the Telecommunication Standard and develop a specialized version of the Universal Claim Form.
2007 - NCPDP celebrated the 30 year anniversary of the organization.
2006 - CMS issued certification of NCPDP as an Electronic File Interchange Organization (EFIO), enabling NCPDP to submit and maintain applications on behalf of consenting pharmacies to obtain their National Provider Identifier (NPI) numbers.
2005 - CMS named the SCRIPT Standard v5.0 and the Telecommunication Standard v5.1 for eligibility checking in e-prescribing in the proposed rules for the MMA legislation.
2005 - NCPDP created WG14 Long Term Care devoted to issues related to implementation of NCPDP Standards in long term care settings.
2005 - NCPDP and HL7 completed a standards coordination project, mapping the SCRIPT Standard to the HL7 standard to facilitate e-prescribing messages.
