  3. Opioid Epidemic Declared a National Emergency

    President Trump has declared the opioid epidemic a national emergency. The declaration was one of the recommendations in the President’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis draft interim report that was released last week. In his remarks highlighting the Commission’s recommendations, Governor Chris Christie (N.J.) noted that opioid overdoses currently equal the death toll of September 11, 2001, every three weeks.
