Pooja Babbrah, MBA is Executive Vice President of Strategy & Industry Alignment with the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP). Under the direction of the COO, Babbrah will further enhance NCPDP’s relationships among regulatory and other standards development organizations to advance pharmacy initiatives that support better healthcare interoperability, care coordination and, ultimately, improve patient outcomes.
Before joining NCPDP staff, Babbrah held several volunteer positions with NCPDP including serving as an NCPDP Board of Trustees Member and prior Chair, and member on NCPDP’s Strategic Planning Committee, Finance Committee, Compensation Committee and Bylaws Committee. She has also served as Co-Chair of NCPDP’s Work Group 18.
She was previously Pharmacy and PBM Practice Lead for Point-of-Care Partners (POCP), a management consulting firm, and helped clients develop corporate and product strategies focused on the intersection of healthcare technology, policy and standards.
During her 10-year tenure with POCP, Pooja worked closely with several Health and Human Services (HHS) agencies including Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy Office and Office of the National Coordinator (ASTP/ONC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Recently, Babbrah was asked to participate as a subject matter expert on two ASTP/ONC Health Information Technology Advisory Committee workgroups including the Pharmacy Interoperability and Emerging Therapeutics Task and the Interoperability Standards Workgroup (ISWG). Pooja’s efforts to advance industry adoption of technology resulted in her being asked to testify in front of the United States Senate Special Committee on Aging in 2019 around drug price transparency.
Babbrah currently serves as co-chair of the newly created Sequoia Project, Interoperability Matters Pharmacy Workgroup, and serves on the Advisory Board for Water1st, International, a Seattle based charity focused on sustainable water systems. She is the prior chair of the Investment Committee for the Arizona State University Foundation – Women and Philanthropy program where she managed the grant proposal process for potential funding and is a published author in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association (JAPhA).
Pooja has her BA in Business Administration/Information Systems from the University of Washington and an MBA from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.
